C’est Magnifique: A thoroughly lovely evening with My Home Supper Club

What a deliciously fun evening we spent with Aoife of My Home Supper Club and her husband Damian
I simply adore these wonderful secret supper clubs, hosted by people passionate and food, cooking and entertaining. There’s something intimate and special about dining at someone’s home rather than a restaurant. I know many of you love them too as the spaces are booked within hours when we add a supper club outing to our events list.

In a beautifully candlelit room, on a dark and thundery Summer’s evening we enjoyed super food in the Behans’ beautiful home. Here’s our Bastille Day inspired menu in pictures.

P1050988
To start, chicory, apple, walnut and roquefort salad

P1050997
Coq au vin de bourgogne

P1050998
A delicious warm green salad and roast potatoes (not pictured)

And the highlight for me, the croqembouche. Made with lots of love over 2 days a tower of cream filled profiteroles. Over 150 of them! The chou pastry, the cream, the chocolate, the spun sugar combined to produce food heaven.  It was love at first sight.

If you’d like to experience My Home Supper Club you’re in luck as new dates were released today! My Home Supper Club can seat up to 12 people at 2 tables of 6, so why not get a few friends together?

Book early though, as these events are very popular. Find out more here

Fascinating Fascinators

Posted on

Last night 6  Brunchers joined a group of other women at a Fascinator Workshop. If you are wondering what a fascinator is, read on!

It was a brilliant evening organised by Suzanne O’Brien and Sam Prophet of Party Craft. They are so enthusiastic and knowledgable, it was a joy to be there even for those of us who didn’t know our netting from our veiling.

In a heady whirl of feathers, flowers, sequins, pearls and all manner of fascinator fabulousness we set to work. Using the glue guns is similar to using a soldering iron and since my soldering has previously been described as ‘neat’ (a high accolade), I felt at home.

However, it has been some time since I last used a needle and thread. And millinery is a fiddly business so the evening was not without its challenges! With Sam and Suzanne on hand though we all go there in the end with great results.

So without further ado, a couple of pictures…

Fascinator
Ann's amazing peacock feather and pearl fascinator.
Fascinator
Judit channelling Ingrid. Beautiful fascinator made in record-breaking time
Fascinator
A fascinator or an insect eating plant? Be afraid, be very afraid...

We just need somewhere to wear them now! We’ve decided to wear them to dinner at First Coast on Friday

Unleash your creativity
If you are now chomping at the bit and keen to make your own creation, get in touch with Party Craft. As well as fascinator workshops Party Craft run a wide range of fabulous workshops for adults and for children. You can find them on facebook or call 07505 471831 or partycraftscotland(at)gmail.com to find out more.
